Description

Crop science is a broad discipline encompassing breeding, genetics, production, and management. This program is designed to introduce our learners to the principles, skills and knowledge needed for appropriate production, management practices and systems.

Outcomes:
    • Organize planting, harvesting and other agronomic operations in the field or greenhouse.
    • Perform tasks and experiments in the field and/or greenhouse.
    • Organize and maintain inventory stocks of necessary breeding lines.
    • Ensure there is enough food for growing populations.
    • Help maintain nation’s food supply.
    • Improve crop yield with less labor, control pests and weeds more safely and effectively.
    • Research ways to conserve soil and water.
    • Collect samples in the field.
    • Look for ways to use agricultural products for fuels.
    • Study plants in order to help producers of food, animal feed, and fiber crops to feed a growing population and conserve natural resources.
    • Increase productivity.
    • Study the breeding, physiology, and management of crops and use genetic engineering to develop crops that are resistant to pests and to drought.
    • Develop new technologies to control or eliminate pests and prevent their spread in ways appropriate to the specific environment.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
    • A hand written application addressed to the Director;
    • A certified true copy of Birth certificate;
    • A certified true copy of Advanced Level Certificate / Result Slip or school Attendance Attestation for candidates awaiting GCE Avanced level results;
    • 02 passport size photographs;
    • An A4 envelope with postal stamp carrying the candidate’s address;
    • An application form available at the institution or on the website(www.myiuc.com);
    • A medical fee of 5000 Fcfa to be paid after admission and during registration;
    • Application fee : 25 000 Frs.
